YEREVAN (Reuters)–Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s chief of personal security was unscathed after gunmen opened fire on his car–the State Prosecutor said Tuesday.
Armenian television said late Monday that the car of Romeo (Romik) Kazaryan had come under a hail of automatic weapons fire Sunday evening about 20 miles from Yerevan.
Television showed a car pockmarked with bullet holes. The State Prosecutor’s office confirmed the attack and said it had launched an investigation. It offered an unspecified cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the assailants. Officials said the motive for the attack was unknown. Kazaryan was not shown in the television report and he could not be reached for comment.
