OSCE Envoy Monitors Karabakh Azeri Front

STEPANAKERT (Noyan Tapan)–A special envoy of the OSCE–Andrei Kasprczik–and his aides Bern Lauritsen of Denmark–Alexander Samarsky of Ukraine and Albert Troedson of Sweden–toured the border between the armed forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan near Aghdam on Wednesday. There were no incidents during their inspection.

Military commanders from Karabakh and Azerbaijan had established direct contact to ensure the international mission’s security. The Karabakh side organized and conducted the monitoring as required by the OSCE mission.

Envoy Kasprchik and his party were accompanied by local defense officers–representatives of the Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nagorno Karabakh.

Kasprchik also had a meeting with Karabakh’s Foreign Minister Naira Melkoumian later that day.

On Thursday–Kasprchik was received by President Arkady Ghoukassian. He presented the results of the monitoring and discussed prospects for the Karabakh settlement with Karabakh leaders.
