YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Leaderships are changing–they come and go–but normal–civilized relations should stay," spokesperson of Levon Ter-Petrosyan–Levon Zourabian–said at a Wednesday press conference. He thanked the media for cooperating with his office during his years in office.
Zourabian reported that on Thursday–Levon Ter-Petrosyan met with all foreign ambassadors to Armenia and thanked them for their cooperation.
He expressed hope that they would encourage further cooperation between Armenia and the countries which they represent–as well as assist in strengthening Armenia’s economic and political status.
Zourabian refuted commentary which deemed wrong the resignation of top-ranking officials which allegedly forced Ter-Petrosyan to resign.
He explained that their resignations were not cause for but in solidarity of Ter-Petrosyan’s. "Certainly–they wanted their resignations to be signed by Ter-Petrosyan," said Zourabian. He confirmed that Ter-Petrosyan’s supporters shared Ter-Petrosyan’s beliefs.
"Those who left the President–well–let’s them go," Zourabian said.
Zourabian did not provide information regarding the "certain forces" which made Ter-Petrosyan resign. He also deemed untrue allegations suggesting that Ter-Petrosyan resigned as a result of argumen’s presented to him. Furthermore–Zourabian called "absurd" allegations of the resignation being a result of pressure from external forces.
Zourabian said that Ter-Petrosyan does not have any concrete plans for the future. "I do not think he will leave Armenia," he said. Speaking of ex-President’s future political activities–Zourabian said that Ter-Petrosyan in collaboration with the Armenian National Movement will be "a more constructive opposition."
