ARF Re Registered in Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Justice Ministry of Armenia Monday re-registered the Armenian Revolutionary Federation refuting the decree issued by Levon Ter-Petrosyan on December 28–1994 and a relevant resolution of the Supreme Court whereby the party’s activities were suspended in Armenia.

Armenia’s justice minister and his deputy–Marat Aleksanian and Dikran Avetissian–said that the re-registration was based on the reality that the ARF constitution and by-laws were in line with the constitution and laws of the Republic of Armenia.

Members of the ARF Executive Council of Armenia Roland Sharoyan–Vartan Petrossian and Gegham Manoukian were invited to the decision-making session of the Armenian justice ministry board.

In the last three years–the Justice Ministry has rejected all applications for re-registration of the party. On Monday–the Ministry found as satisfactory the party’s statute and provided explanations.

"Internal political events hastened the process of renewing the party’s activities–which had been set in train last year," said Justice Minister Marat Aleksanian.

"Now there are no more judicial obstacles to our party’s activities," said ARF’s Executive Council member Petrossian told Reuters.

"In the next two or three days we will discuss the issue of our part in the elections–and also the issue of our candidate," he added.
