Kocharian Meets With EU Envoy

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Acting President and Prime Minister Robert Kocharian met with the European Union representative to Armenia Denis Corbaut Wednesday to discuss programs being implemented jointly with the European Union. According to Kocharian all programs will proceed as scheduled.

The EU envoy stressed the need for closer cooperation under the TACIS program as well as more direct use of funds allocated to Armenia under that program.

Corbaut reported that EU observers would be monitoring the March 16 presidential election in Armenia. Kocharian stressed the importance of creating an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect among all candidates in order to hold disciplines–free and fair elections. He also noted that the findings of international experts regarding the previous election were being studied.
