$1 Billion Investment Anticipated in 1998

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Acting President and Prime Minister Robert Kocharian announced this week that the government expects a sum of about $1 billion in investment this year. The Finance and Economy Ministry outlined the following plans in a press conference:

"ArmenTel" telephone company: $300 million

"FDM Armenia" gold mining company: $180 million

"Mars" electric plant: $100 million

Hrazdan Power Plant: $100 million

"Armenia,"Ani," and "Dvin" hotels: $50 million

"Zvartnots" airport passenger’s terminal: $30 million

Other projects: $200 million

Currently–ArmenTel’s investment plan has been finalized–the hotels’ investment is anticipated for April–while the remaining projects are still at their beginning stages.
