Duma to Send Election Observers

MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)–The State Duma decided on Wednesday to send a group of observers to oversee the presidential election in Armenia.

On September 25–1997–the Duma formed a commission in support of Armenia’s "popular initiative to join the Russia-Belarus Union," the Duma said in its Wednesday’s resolution.

Based on the 1997 resolution and upon the invitation of Armenian National Assembly Speaker Khosrov Harutiunian–the lower parliament house decided to send a delegation to monitor the March 16 presidential election in Armenia.
