Hariri Visits Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri met yesterday with Armenia’s President Robert Kocharian during a one day official visit to Armenia.

At a press conference after the meeting–Hariri expressed his satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries. "Lebanon will continue to develop its relations with Armenia despite the change of leadership in Armenia," he said.

Hariri expressed confidence that agreemen’s made with former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s will be fulfilled.

Hariri said that economic cooperation between Armenia and Lebanon has a good base–especially due to the large Armenian population in Lebanon whose representatives make a valuable contribution to the country’s economy.

Hariri said he visited to Armenia to congratulate Kocharian on his recent victory.

The Lebanese delegation consists of six Armenian members of the Lebanese Parliament–and journalists. The high-ranking officials were met by Prime Minister Armen Darbinian–Chief of Staff and Minister of Urgent Affairs Shahen Karamanoukian–and members of parliament.
