Human Rights Commission Holds First Meeting

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Human Rights Commission–operating under the auspices of President Robert Kocharian–met for the first time last week. The meeting was presided over by commission chairman Paruyr Hairikian.

The meeting was attended by commission members Vartan Haroutiunian–Nora Hakobian–Aghasi Arshakian–Hakob Avetikian–Hovhannes Asrian–Manuk Topuzian–Vladimir Karmirshalian–Stepan Hairapetian–Edward Mamikonian–David Petrossian–and Lazar Sujian. The commission discussed its working regulations–annual program–as well as issues of assigning working groups according to spheres of activities–and other current issues.

The committee scheduled its second meeting in the near future to complete discussion of the above-mentioned issues and to begin activity.
