Filmmaker Malian Remembered in Moscow

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A commemorative gathering was dedicated to prominent artist and film director Henrik Malian at the Central House of Cinematographers in Moscow–on Friday–May 15.

Artem Karapetian–a Moscow actor of Armenian origin–offered the opening speech. The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Armenia–Sergey Israelian–who was a cameraman on all Malian films; and Valery Uskov–a Moscow film director–remembered their experiences with Malian. The chairman of the Union of Cinematographers of Russia–Armen Medvedev–also recalled his meetings with Malian.

Among performers were Rima Saribekian who performed Armenian folk songs–and guitarist Vladimir Dallakian.

At the end of the gathering–which had been organized by the International Confederation of Cinematographers and Henrik Malian’s nephew Karen Asirian–the films "The Triangle" and "A Piece of the Sky" were shown.

Also attending the meeting were Henrik Malian’s sister Emma Asirian-Malian.
