Prosecutor General Reveals 30 Plus Crimes

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President Robert Kocharian met with Prosecutor General Henrik Khachatrian Monday to discuss several issues for strengthening law and order in the country.

Khachatrian briefed the president on several cases under investigation–in particular–the case of Armen Ter-Sahakian and others.

President Kocharian ordered the prosecutor to use all means to prevent any atmosphere of impunity in the republic.

Armen Ter-Sahakian and others–have recently been found responsible for more than 30 crimes. Among those are the murders of Ashdarag District Director Hovig Soukiassian and his driver (Sept. 18–1992); Armenian Railways executive chairperson Hampartsum Ghandilian–his driver and passenger General Zhora Isahagian (May 3–1993); and–the attempted murders of Supreme Court Review Board chairman Vladimir Krikorian (June 2–1994); Yerevan native Mikael Toumanian–in Hrazdan; Terenig Khourshoudian–security guard of the Dzoraghpuyr agricultural company (January 5–1998); Yerevan resident Robert Yeghiazarian (May 15–1996); Samvel Chapoukhchian (March 1995); arrangement made in Moscow to murder Serge Chilavian (December 1993); evidence of the kidnap and murder of the lumber factory of Massis president Raffik Yeghiazarian and distribution director Hratch Darabian (June 19–1992); the murder of Haigob executive accountant Zaven Arousdamian (June 30–1996); and the murder of Yerevan resident Maria Sargssian (March 16–1993).

Five additional murders in 1992-1994 continue to be under investigation.

Investigations of three incidents of theft–ten incidents of embezzlement and 11 incidents of car theft have also been completed.
