Armenia to Mark 50th Anniversary of Human Rights Declaration

YEREVAN(Noyan Tapan)–The special working group that was set up by the Foreign Ministry of Armenia and the United Nations Development Program has already put together a schedule of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to be held in Armenia.

An art contest exhibit on human rights featuring the works of Armenian painters is scheduled to be held from May 25 to June 8. An international conference on human rights will be held in Yerevan June 8-9. The conference will be attended by representatives of Armenian ministries–foreign embassy officials–representatives of international and human rights organizations.

Among other tasks–the translation and publication of literature on human rights has been arranged. In addition–the information on human rights organizations working in Armenia is expected to be made available on the Internet.
