ANC Announces Details of Genocide Workshop

LOS ANGELES–The Armenian National Committee of America – Western Region announced Monday the details of its forthcoming Armenian Genocide Workshop. The purpose of the workshop will be to better acquaint Armenian community representatives and the general public with crucial background information about the Armenian Genocide and effective ways to accurately and concisely present the facts to a non-Armenian audience.

Funding for the workshop–which is offered free to the general public–has been made possible through the generosity of the family of the late Karpis Karapetian.

Before his recent passing–Karapetian–the son of Genocide survivors–actively supported initiatives and programs designed to advance the Armenian Cause.

The workshop will take place on Saturday–June 20 at Soghanalian Hall–located in the rear of Saint Garabed Church–at 1614 North Alexandria Avenue in Hollywood. The workshop will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 5:00 p.m.–with periodic breaks for coffee and lunch.

Speakers for the program include Dr. Levon Marashlian of Glendale College; Dr. Greg Goekjian of Portland State University; prominent author and lecturer–Dr. Roubina Peroomian; ANC Oregon Chairman–Serop Nenejian; Richard Kloian of the San Francisco based Armenian Genocide Resource Center; and newspaper publisher and columnist Harut Sassounian.

"This workshop comes at an important juncture in our community life where we are witnessing both an unprecedented interest in the Armenian Genocide on the part of the international community as well as the most far reaching and sophisticated Turkish denial campaign we have ever confronted," stated ANCA-WR Board Member Steve Dadaian–who will serve as the moderator of the event.

"Our goal is too prepare our community with not only the knowledge but the resources to effectively present our just cause to the media and policy makers," he added.

Individuals interested in taking part in this program should contact the ANCA-WR Office at 818-500-1918.
