YEREVAN (Itar Tass)–One secondary school student died from burns and 20 were hospitalized–with nine critical condition–after their school bus caught fire on Sunday night–the Interior and National security Ministry reported on Monday.
The bus full of students and teachers from a secondary school in the Mrganush village of the Ararat district–exploded and caught on fire 700-800 meters away from a gas station southeast of Yerevan–where it had filled a full tank of gas. The driver broke the bus’ windows and helped the passengers out.
The group was returning from a day long picnic.
Twelve year old Hovakim Akolyan died on Monday. Nine other victims suffered from third and fourth degree burns.
