Case Against US Official Dropped

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Prosecutor’s Office studied the materials of the case of US Embassy official Morgan Liddick–drawn up by the Arabkir Precinct of the Ministry of the Interior–as reported by the Azg daily on June 20.

The study of the material showed that on April 28–1998–at about 6 p.m. local time–teenagers Arman Ter-Hakobian and Artur Sargsian climbed over the fence of House 18 rented by the US Embassy located on Demirchian St. and–breaking branches–picked fruit from an apricot-tree. On returning home–Liddick saw the kids doing that and rebuked them. He made an attempt to catch and hand them over to the police. The kids tried to escape and received slight bodily injuries through carelessness. The investigator of the Arabkir precinct refused to institute criminal proceedings on this fact for lack of grounds.
