Yerkrapah Joins Republican Party

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Members of the parliamentary faction of the Yerkrapah battalion and the Yerkrapah battalion have joined the Republican Party of Armenia.

Republican Party Chairman and National Assembly member Antranig Markarian reported that following the February political events–Yerkrapah members were looking to create a new political party. However–since the Republican Party and the Yerkrapah battalion share political ideologies–the two have decided to merge.

The name of the party will remain the same–and amendmen’s to the party’s bylaws will be made prior to its annual convention which is scheduled to be held in September.

Markarian also mentioned that it is likely for the Republican Party to present its own amendmen’s to the electoral system when the National Assembly begins its fiscal year in September. Regarding the lack of approved legislation in the past National Assembly fiscal year–Markarian said it is time for all political forces to make certain concessions.
