Fifth Anniversary of Dram to be Celebrated

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The fifth anniversary of circulation of the Armenian national currency–the dram–will be celebrated on November 22.

The days long celebrations will include a joint forum of the Central Bank and the Institute of Ethnography and Archeology of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia.

A news conference will also be held by the former president of the Central Bank–Isahak Isahakian–the former chairman of the parliamentary standing Committee on Finance and Budgetary Issues–Tigran Sargssian–and the former Minister of Finance–Levon Barkhoudarian–all three of whom who initiated the circulation process. A ceremonial reception will be held as well.

Jubilee coins will be minted–a colorful book published and documentaries in Russian–Armenian and English filmed.

The Central Bank will assign 12 million drams for the event. Half of the sum will be spent on filming the documentaries.
