Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Head Arrives in Armenia

YEREVAN (Itar-Tass)–Head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service Vyacheslav Trubnikov arrived in the Armenian capital of Yerevan Sunday.

On Monday–Trubnikov was expected to meet President Robert Kocharian and sign bilateral documen’s.

The goals of the visit have not be announced. The visit was "of a closed nature," sources told Itar-Tass at the airport.

This is the first visit of the head of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service to Armenia.

The Director of the Russian Federal Border Service visited the republic in July.

Last month–Russian Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev visited Armenia where he met with President Kocharian–Defense Minister Sargsyan and other high-level Armenian officials.

Sergeyev said Russia did not plan to cut its military presence in the Caucasus.
