MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)– With the tenth anniversary of the Armenian earthquake drawing nearer–a special fund will be set up to complete reconstruction work within the affected zone.
Representatives of the Russian state and public organizations that actively participated in rescue operations and reconstruction work in the quake zone are expected to visit Armenia. A conference devoted to the events of ten years ago will be held in Gumri–former Leninakan. Anatoly Tyazhlov–the governor of the Moscow region–is among those invited for the conference. Tyazhlov has been leading a construction team from Moscow for nearly two years.
During a meeting with Boris Pastukhov–the Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister–the governor of the Shirak region expressed heart-felt gratitude to all Russian people who came to the rescue of those affected by the quake. Gomtsyan suggested that the Russian side arrange mutually-advantageous cooperation in the restoration of the industry of quake-stricken regions and creating jobs. He also asked that credits be granted for the construction of housing–schools and kindergartens.
