Karekin I and Aram I to Attend UAF Gala Banquet

LOS ANGELES–The Gala Banquet celebrating United Armenian Fund’s 100th humanitarian Airlift to Armenia will have as its honored guests His Holiness Karekin I–Catholicos of All Armenia’s and His Holiness Aram I–Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia–in addition to President Robert Kocharian.

This significant event will be held at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles on September 26. The Banquet Organizing Committee–representing a broad cross section of the Armenian community from throughout Southern California–feels deeply proud that "the spiritual leaders of the Armenian Apostolic Church will be able to attend this special occasion and take part in the evening’s program."

His Holiness Catholicos Karekin I was elected Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenia’s on April 4–1995. Prior to his election–he had served as Catholicos of the Great House of Cilicia since 1977.

His Holiness Aram I is the spiritual leader of the Holy See of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church. He was consecrated as Catholicos on July 1–1995–after serving as Primate of the Armenian Church in Lebanon for fifteen years.

The proceeds from the September 26 banquet will help the UAF procure much-needed medicines and medical suplies for Armenia. The United Armenian Fund was formed in November 1989 as a tax-exempt non-profit organization whose purpose is to bring short term humanitarian and longer term rehabilitation aid to Armenia. In the past nine years–the UAF has sent over $235 million of humanitarian supplies to Armenia by air–land–and sea.

Banquet sponsorship are available at the levels of $25,000; $10,000; $5,000 and regular tables at $1,500. Tickets for the Black Tie Banquet are $150 each. For further information and reservations please call the UAF Office (818) 241-8900.
