Armenian Ambassador to Egypt Attends Summit

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The 12th summit of the Movement of Non-Aligned States was recently held in the South African city of Durban. Armenia was represented by Ambassador to Egypt Edward Nalbandian at the summit.

The summit adopted a final document–as well as a "Durban Declaration for the New Millennium" signed by 114 countries. The document says that on the threshold of the new millennium it is necessary to establish international relations and create favorable conditions for the economic growth of countries of the third world.

During the summit Nalbandian held meetings with the foreign ministers of Qatar–Bahrain–Yemen–Mauritania–Lebanon–Swaziland and Cyprus–the minister of industry of Kuwait–and deputy foreign ministers of South Africa–the United Arab Emirates–Oman–Kuwait–Kenya and Malaysia–as well as the Secretary General of the "Islamic Conference" organization.
