Armenian Government Congratulates Jr. Chess Champions

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The chief of the presidential staff Alexan Haroutiunian on Thursday–on behalf of President Robert Kocharian presented souvenirs and monetary rewards to members of the Armenian Jr. Chess Team who performed well in the recent Jr. Chess Olympiad in Istanbul taking first place among 26 countries.

Congratulating young chess-players Levon Aronyan–Gabriel Sargssian–Varuzhan Hakobian and Tigran Petrossian–Haroutiunian pointed out that the country’s government is always ready to render all kinds of assistance to Armenian sportsmen to make further progress.

Thanking the president on behalf of Armenian chess-players–the President of the Armenian Chess Federation Vanik Zakarian gave assurances that the Armenian chess school has high prestige and the sport has good prospects.
