Oskanian Confident About New Russian Prime Minister

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"Mr. Primakov is quite an experienced man with great abilities–and we hope that he will succeed in leading Russia out of the current crisis within a short period of time," Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian said during a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart here in Yerevan last Friday commenting on the appointment of Yevgeniy Primakov as Russia’s Prime Minister.

"We want to see Russia thriving," said the minister–pointing out that relations between Armenia and Russia "have always been on a high level and it remains the same–since it proceeds from our interests."

The foreign minister of Cyprus–Joannis Kasulides hailed the appointment of Yevgeniy Primakov as Prime Minister–saying that the latter has been following the developmen’s in Cyprus and "is aware of our situation." He also pointed out that Russia has good relations with Cyprus and expressed a hope that the new prime minister of Russia will work to further strengthen these relations.
