Two Draft Election Codes Circulate the Parliament

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Only one draft election code–submitted by the Self-Determination Union–had been in circulation in the Parliament before the eighth parliamentary session began on September 14. At the first meeting of the eighth session–deputy Edward Yegorian handed over another draft election code to Speaker Khosrov Haorutiunian.

The draft is a legislative initiative of 53 deputies. It is the combined variant of the three drafts which were discussed by the parliament during the previous session. The authors of these drafts are: the "Hayrenik" (Homeland) deputy group–CPA faction and deputy Vigen Khachatrian.

Talking to Noyan Tapan–Khachatrian said that the draft was coordinated with a number of political forces–in particular–"Democratic Homeland," Ramkavar Azatakan (Liberal Democrats) party–ANM–SDU–CPA and "Shamiram" deputy group. The speaker of the Parliament reported that the draft will be put into circulation according to the order established by the regulations.

Within the next few days the "Yerkrapah" deputy group will submit another draft election code–the vice chairman of the Parliament–member of the same group Albert Bazeyan told Noyan Tapan.
