Conference Participants Substantiate Armenia’s Importance

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– "It is the first time that such a big scientific forum–dealing with problems of religion–culture–history and art–is held in Armenia," the head of a department at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences–Paruir Mouradian–told Noyan Tapan.

Foreign scientists displayed interest and enthusiasm. Over 30 leading Armen’sts arrived in Armenia to attend the conference. Mouradian pointed out that Armenian culture will always be a highlight and a subject for thorough study by the entire civilized world. "We–Armenia’s–just can’t imagine the significance of our monunemts for the world’s history of culture," he said.

Alexander Lidov–who represented the Center of Christian Culture (Moscow)–also shared this opinion.

Aside from making scientific reports and holding panel discussions–the participants in the conference have the opportunity to see displays dedicated to Armenian art. Among them is a book fair–and a collection of souvenirs made of semi-precious stones with Christian symbolism
