Hovannisian Clarifies Resignation

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– The former acting director of the Executive Board of the All Armenian Fund Raffi Hovannissian spoke at the Armenian Center for Strategic and National Studies.

"On September 4–thanking the Board of Trustees of the All Armenian Fund ‘Hayastan’–I submitted a written application for resignation as acting director of the Executive Board. It was accepted on September 15.

"Various reasons–such as conceptual–organizational–and ethical issues–combined to create insurmountable obstacles in the operations of the establishment."

"With regret and sadness I resign from the the Fund– assuring the president of the Republic of Armenia about my willingness to support any nationwide initiative.

"Regardless of the current changes–setbacks–even slander and selfish approaches–all of us should always remain with the Homeland–morally–financially and wholeheartedly."

The "Azg" daily reported Thursday that Hovannisian invited all board executives on Tuesday to wish them farewell.

The paper presumed that the former minister of foreign affairs will ask for resignation.
