Hatutiunian Meets With Romanian President

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Romanian President Emil Konstantinesku met Tuesday Speaker of the Armenian Parliament Khosrov Harutiunian–who heads an Armenian parliamentary delegation on an official visit to Romania. Konstantinesku expressed satisfaction with the fact that the traditional Armenian-Romanian relations are entering a new phase of development.

The sides exchanged views regarding joint activities within the framework of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) as well as the agreemen’s on cooperation within the framework of the TRACECA and INOGATE programs.

The sides voiced confidence that regional economic cooperation will promote the solution to political problems–which will serve as a stimulus to the improvement of the well-being of all peoples of the region.

Otherwise–the measures provided by different regional programs will not be completely carried out.

The speaker of the Armenian Parliament presented Armenia’s proposals for a meeting within the framework of the BSEC to be held in Antalia. Armenia’s proposals regard the creation of multimodule transport corridors. The sides also discussed the development of the Armenia-Georgia-Romania trilateral cooperation.

Presenting Armenia’s position on the Karabakh settlement–the speaker of the Armenian Parliament stressed the importance of direct negotiations between the conflicting parties–Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
