TBILISI (Itar-Tass)–Armenian parliamentary chairman Khosrov Arutyunyan asked the Council of Europe to organize a meeting of the parliament speakers of Georgia–Armenia and Azerbaijan–on Wednesday.
Arutyunyan believes that such a meeting could pave the way to the creation of an inter-parliamentary assembly of south Caucasus countries–the press service of Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze said.
The statement was made after a meeting between Arutyunyan and Shevardnadze.
Arutunyan is in Georgia to take part in the expanded meeting of the bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe–which is being held in Tbilisi–and in the seminar "The Settlement of Conflicts and the Development of Democracy."
