YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Yerevan Spandarian district court met the claim the head of the Department of Ethnography of the Yerevan State University–Hran’sh Kharatian filed against the Central Election Committee. According to the decision of the court the Central Election Committee should register Kharatian as a candidate for Parliament.
It should be reminded that district election committee No.40 refused to register Kharatian as candidate for Parliament–explaining that the latter didn’t present a reference from her place of residence. Kharatian presented her passport at the stated time; the reference was presented with delay. According to the decision of the court–the Law on Deputies of the National Assembly does not contain a stipulation under which the above-mentioned argumen’s may serve as a ground for refusal to register a candidate.
The court’s decisions can be appealed within ten days in the Chamber for civil proceedings of Armenia’s Court of Appeal.
