Ournov Completes Mission in Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Prime Minister Armen Darbinian met Tuesday with Russian Ambassador to Armenia Andrei Ournov who is completing his diplomatic mission in Armenia.

The ambassador expressed gratitude for the cooperation and hospitality shown to him and his staff during his tenure in Armenia.

"The agreement on strategic cooperation between the two countries reflects the relations between our peoples and governmen’s," commented Darbinian.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries. Among important tasks of the bilateral cooperation–the meeting outlined means to strengthen economic ties–implementation of joint programs in tax–energy–industrial financial and banking realms.

Darbinian wished the ambassador success in his further diplomatic endeavors.

Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian also met Ournov on Tuesday. The two leaders outlined the importance of maintaining the current level of relations between the two countries and stressed the need for further strengthening and developing of ties.

Oskanian expressed gratitude to the Russian ambassador for close cooperation with the Armenian Foreign Ministry and emphasized Ournov’s personal contribution to the development of relations between the two countries.

Ournov expressed gratitude to the Armenian foreign minister for assisting in his work and voiced confidence that Armenian-Russian relations would develop and cooperation between the two countries would be enhanced.

Oskanian met Tuesday with Iranian Ambassador to Armenia Hamidreza Nikkar Esfahani whose diplomatic mission has also concluded.

During the meeting the two leaders expressed satisfaction with the level of relations between the two countries and stressed their willingness to further promote this cooperation in the future.

Oskanian and Esfahani outlined the importance of developing neighborly relations between the two nations.

Expressing gratitude to the Iranian ambassador for his long-standing and close cooperation–Oskanian noted that Esfahani–as the first Iranian ambassador to Armenia–made great strides in strengthening and development of the Armenian-Iranian cultural ties.
