AESA to Mark Hambartsumian’s 90th Birthday

GLENDALE–The Armenian Engineers and Scientists of America has organized a commemorative evening dedicated to the great Armenian Scientist Victor Hambartsumian’s 90th birthday.

The evening will take place on Saturday–November 7 at 4 p.m. at the AGBU Manoogian Center (2495 E. Mountain St.–Pasadena). Admission is free.

Keynote Speaker Professor Yervant Terzian–James A Weeks Professor of Physical Sciences–Chairman of the Department of Astronomy and Space Sciences at Cornell University–Foreign Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia will discuss "Hambartsumian and the Magnificent Universe."

Professor Ashot Karapetian–National Academy of Sciences of Armenia Member will give a talk entitled "Hambartsumian: A Great Organizer of Scientific Research."

Professors Mihran Agbabian–Richard Hovanissian and Charles H. Papaz–all National Academy of Sciences of Armenia foreign members–will share their memories of Hambartsumian.

A short documentary film about Hambartsumian’s life and a brief musical program of Armenian classical compositions will be performed by young talented soprano Lori Panossian and distinguished violinist Prof. Haroutune Bedelian–accompanied by pianist Lorna Griffitt–D.M. will conclude the evening.
