ARF Leaders Meet With Lebanese President Elect

BEIRUT (Aztag)–A delegation of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation of Lebanon met with Lebanese President Elect Emil Lahoud Friday at the Defense Ministry headquarters in Beirut.

Representing the ARF Central Committee were chairman Dikran Jinbashian and political representative Hagop Pakradouni. Accompanying them to the meeting were Lebanese Armenian Parliamentary Caucus representative Sebouh Hovnanian–Lebanese Minister of Oil Shahe Barsoumian and Bourdj Hammoud mayor Tsolag Tutelian.

The ARF representatives congratulated Lahoud.

The ARF leaders told Lahoud that–in Lebanon’s political history–the party always had worked alongside the government represented by the president. Today–more than ever–the ARF was committed to continuing its policy–said the ARF representatives and expressed the party’s solidarity to the president.

The delegation reminded the president that the Armenian community of Lebanon–one of the seven main communities in the country–always had worked toward preserving the laws of the land–the national territorial integrity and in Lebanon’s rebuilding process.

The delegation pointed out–however–that the community had yet to receive the full scope of rights envisioned by law. The ARF leaders expressed hope that situation would be rectified under the new president.

The ARF delegation pledged that the party would unequivocally take part in the country’s rebuilding process and expressed their willingness to undertake any responsibility in any capacity possible.

President-Elect Lahoud commended the Armenian community and the ARF’s leadership and pledged that during his upcoming six-year tenure–he would reform the legal branches and rectify all the wrongs of the past.
