General Motors to Produce Cars in Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– Prime Minister Armen Darbinian received Thursday the delegation of the American General Motors company headed by the company’s vice-president Gregory de Jonker.

The goal of the two-day visit of the delegation is to develop–jointly with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Armenia–a schedule of setting up the production of motor-cars and the location of the future production facility.

Prime Minister Darbinian vowed full support to the company in implementing its targeted program. He expressed a hope that the delegation would submit a working schedule to the Armenian government by the end of the visit.

A car factory producing vans was built in Yerevan in the 1960’s.
