YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–New donor organizations have recently offered their abilities to develop Armenian science. Armenian scientists specializing in law–history–philosophy and culture may use the potential of the Onassis Foundation (Greece). Social scientists may take courses of training in the United States with the assistance of the Special American Internship Business Training (SABIT). Also–in the United States they may conduct short-term researches in almost any field at the expense of the COBASE grant.
There is a growing interest towards the Fund for Academic Ties of Germany (DAAD)–which embraces almost all fields of both fundamental and applied sciences and offers an opportunity of work on probation at schools and research centers in Germany and provides access to most up-to-date technology. Dozens of students and scientists from Armenia have already taken advantage of this opportunity.
New gran’s are also expected from the long-time partners of the Armenian scientists–such as INTAS–NATO–ISTC.
Additionally–the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia received notifications from funds encouraging world-famed scientists such as the Fund of Higher Normative School of France–and the Balzan Prize–Italy–which–by its significance and size (500,000 Swiss fran’s) doesn’t yield to the Nobel prize and is awarded for outstanding scientific researches in philosophy–history–mathematics and anthropology.
An exchange of scientific literature is being established with the famous London Museum of Natural History. Several monographs by Armenian natural scientists have already been sent to this British museum from Armenia.
