Water Management Agency Proposed

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–In a recent regular meeting–the Armenian government discussed the issue of establishing a single government body to manage the utilization of the country’s water resources.

The meeting discussed the establishment of a single body to manage the country’s water resources is very important–because currently there are three or four ministries that inefficiently coordinate in water management. It was stated that the number of problems in water management is increasing as functions are not distributed–that clear-cut drinking and irrigation water policies are not pursued and constant threats loom of drinking water getting mixed with the sewage.
