President to Leave for Davos to Attend Annual World Economic Forum

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–A delegation led by President Robert Kocharian will leave for Davos–Switzerland–on January 27 to attend the annual World Economic Forum and stay there until February 1. The official delegation will include First Lady Bella Kocharian–Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian–presidential advisor Vahram Nersissian–and executive director of the All Armenian Fund "Hayastan" Vahan Ter-Ghevondian–presidential spokesman told a briefing on Friday.

On the first day of the forum–statemen’s regarding recent events will be made and several key issues will be revealed–after which the forum will continue its work on separate spheres.

On January 28–the Armenian delegation will meet with Swiss businessmen and Armenian businessmen in Geneva. Members of the Swiss Government will also be attending the meeting. Heads of various international agencies based in Geneva will attend a reception in honor of the president of Armenia organized by the UN Headquarters Director in Geneva. The president of Armenia will also attend the opening of a library in the Armenian center in Geneva–as well as a meeting with the Armenian community of Geneva.

On January 29–the delegation will leave for Davos–where a series of meetings will be held on the sidelines of the forum. Discussions during the scheduled meeting with the ABB Group are expected to mainly focus on cooperation in energy–while the meeting with the Andre Group will address agriculture.

The president is also expected to meet with his counterparts from Poland and Switzerland–the prime ministers of Canada and Russia–and the minister of foreign affairs of Iran. The delegation will also visit the European Commission chairman Jacques Santer–the president of the Bank for Reconstruction and Development–the heads of the delegations of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
