First Issue of TV & Radio Journal Published

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The presentation of the TV & Radio monthly was held Wednesday. The journal is published by the Fund for the Development of the Armenian TV and Radio public organization with the assistance of the Government Department for Information and Publishing.

The president of the Fund–Alexander Iskandarian said that the establishment of the journal is the first step in implementing a number of joint programs. The former chief of the Armenian State Committee for TV & Radio–Stepan Poghossian called the establishment of the journal quite an occasion as–he stressed–it is the first time that such a specialized journal is published in Armenia. The country’s TV and broadcasting companies rallied around the idea of creating a common tribune. Among them are the AR–Business-TV–A1+–Mayr Hayrenik–Tsaig–Armmeteo-TV companies–the Shant TV studio in Giumri–TV studios in the town of Hrazdan–Armenia-based branch of the Mir TV company–Lori-Vanadzor public TV company–Hai FM-105.5 private musical and information broadcasting station–Ardzagank private broadcasting station and Radio Burg.

The director of the AR TV company Meruzhan Ter-Ghoulanian gave a positive assessment of the publishing of the journal. He stressed that the "TV and broadcasting companies in the country are in a very unstable situation" and pointed out that the journal will coordinate everybody’s efforts–help people to properly use the advertising field and get to know one another better. The journal will also raise the problems of TV and broadcasting companies before the authorities.

The director of the A1+ TV company–Mesrop Movsissian stressed that the journal will help to "collect all the scattered information" about TV and broadcasting companies and will inform about their state–which is very important for joint work and creating a common field of activities.

Vice-Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee for State and Legal Issues Victor Dallakian expressed the opinion that such an alliance formed by TV and broadcasting companies will be of high importance in the matter of regulating the activities in the sphere and developing it.

It was also pointed out at the presentation that two prizes–"VR microphone" and "Miss TV" are instituted. The prizes will be awarded to the winners at the end of the year.
