New 1 000 Dram And 20 000 Dram Notes to be Introduced

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–The Central Bank decided Tuesday to introduce new bank-notes with nominal values of 1,000 and 20,000 drams starting on March 1–1999. The old bank-notes of the values of 1,000 drams will remain legal tender until February 29–2004–whereafter they will be withdrawn from circulation. However–even after the indicated date they may be exchanged at the Central Bank and other banks with licenses.
