S 300 System Due in Armenia in March

MOSCOW (Itar-Tass)–An S-300 surface-to-air system will be delivered to the Russian military base in Armenia by March 1–air force commander Anatoly Kornukov said.

Kornukov told journalists Monday that "the Russian ground forces’ base stationed there [in Armenia] should be protected. We must not allow this group to be unprotected."

He said that all old and outdated equipment and hardware was now being withdrawn from the base.

Kornukov noted that all weapons and hardware delivered to the base were Russian property and there were no plans to transfer them to Armenia.
