Bulgaria to Open Embassy in Armenia

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenia and Bulgaria have all the necessary prerequisites for bilateral cooperation in economy–politics and culture–and the visit of the Bulgarian parliamentary delegation to Armenia will only promote this cooperation–Jordan Sokolov–chairman of the People’s Assembly of Bulgaria–said during his meeting with Armenia’s Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian.

In February the Bulgarian government made a decision to open an embassy in Armenia–which–according to Sokolov–will bring relations between the two countries on a new level.

Oskanian presented to Sokolov the latest developmen’s in the Karabakh peace process.

Drawing comparisons between the conflicts in Nagorno Karabakh and Kosovo–the sides stressed the need for making compromises in settling similar conflicts.

The two also referred to the importance of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries within international organizations. The Bulgarian top legislator assured Oskanian that his country would promote Armenia’s membership to the Council of Europe.
