PHOENIX–Ariz.–At the invitation of the Kevork Chavoush ARF Gomideh– the Armenian National Committee of America-Western Region Executive Director–Vicken Sonentz-Papazian–traveled to Phoenix–Arizona this past week to meet with Armenian community leaders and exchange ideas on how to increase Armenian American participation in Arizona politics.
While in Arizona–Sonentz-Papazian had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with local community members at a picnic sponsored by the Homenetmen Phoenix Chapter. He extended the ANC’s best wishes to the Phoenix Homenetmen Scouts and sponsors–who were celebrating the first anniversary of the founding of the chapter.
"I was pleased by the community’s enthusiasm and eagerness to work together in promoting Hai Tahd activities in Arizona," stated Sonentz-Papazian–"This relatively small but vibrant and expanding Armenian community can play an important role in building greater support for Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh–both on the state and national level. While sometimes overlooked–it is often the selfless work of Armenian Americans in smaller communities–such as Portland–Seattle–Las Vegas and Phoenix–which provide the winning margin in hotly contested Congressional votes on aid to Armenia–Karabakh and Azerbaijan," concluded Sonentz-Papazian.
