Oskanian Meets With Israeli Foreign Ministry Official

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–During his meeting with the Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian Tuesday–Deputy Secretary General of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Simon Stein presented the changes that took place in Israel’s political life and in the Middle East peace process after the Armenian foreign minister’s visit to Israel last October.

In his turn–Oskanian briefed the Israeli foreign ministry official on the latest changes in Armenia’s foreign policy–in particular–in the Karabakh settlement. The minister confirmed Armenia’s aspiration for finding a comprehensive solution to the Karabakh conflict that would be acceptable to all the conflicting parties. Oskanian stressed Armenia’s consistency both in its integration into the European structures and in continuing the cooperation with the Middle East countries.

Minister Oskanian and Deputy Secretary General Stein stressed the need for and mutual interest in developing the Armenian-Israeli relations in the economic and cultural spheres.

The Commission headed by Simon Stein–which is on a visit to Armenia to hold political consultations–includes Chief of the CIS Department–Israeli Foreign Ministry–Samuel Mevrom–Chief of the Department of Arab Countries Aharon Jaar and Israeli Ambassador to Armenia Ehud Eitam (residence in Tbilisi–Georgia).
