Armenian Piano Trio to Perform in Los Angeles

On the invitation of the Armenian Embassy in Washington–the Armenian trio "Shell" is currently on tour in the US. These performances are organized by the Eastern and Western Regions of the Hamazkayin Armenian Educational and Cultural Society.

Shell piano trio was formed in 1996 with the guidance of Yerevan Conservatory professor Souren Akhnazarian. The three young musicians–pianist Shoushan Hakopian–violinist Lilit Zakarian–and cellist Yekaterina Janpoladian–are in their early 20’s. They are garnering international recognition with their performances in Armenia and last month’s performances in US cities Providence–Washington and Philadelphia.

Shell’s repertoire consists of works by world-famous Armenian and non-Armenian composers such as Mozart–Haydn–Rachmaninoff–Webber–Schubert–Beethoven–Abrahamian–Khachaturian–Komitas–Chrbashian–Shakarian–Smbatian–and more.

The trio’s Los Angeles performance organized by the Hamazkayin Music Committee will take place on Thursday–May 27–at 8 p.m.–in Occidental College’s Herrick Chapel–1600 Campus Road–Eagle Rock.
