CIS Beauty Queen Deman’s Deliver on Awards

MOSCOW (AFP) – Armenia has threatened to boycott the CIS’s beauty pageant if its winner–Gohar Harutunian–does not receive the $25,000 cash prize promised her when she won the competition a few weeks ago–the daily Izvestia reported Saturday.

She was also supposed to be granted the right to enroll in any university of her choosing throughout the world–a promise on which the Commonwealth of Independent States–the former Soviet republics with the exception of the three Baltic states–has not delivered either.

"It’s not really a question of money–but of the honor of my country," she told the paper.

Harutunian expects she will have to lodge her complaint with the CIS’s executive committee–which is responsible for the competition.
