Iranian Embassy Denies Israeli Accusations

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–"The Zionist administration is accusing the Islamic Republic of Iran of harboring terrorism–while being one of the founders of state terrorism–which is not even concealed by the authorities of this country," a statement issued by the embassy of Iran in Armenia’says.

The statement was issued after an interview given by deputy chief of the Department for CIS-member countries of the Israeli Foreign Ministry Simon Stein to the Yerevan-based "Snark" news agency. In his interview Stein accused Iran of harboring terrorism–in particular–the "Hezbollah" terrorist group–operating in Lebanon–hindering the Middle East peace process–pursuing the goal of obtaining nuclear weapon–developing and spreading chemical and biological weaponry.

The Embassy of Iran described the above accusations as "absurd" and noted that "The Islamic Republic of Iran has always stressed that the determination of the future of Palestine is the right of Palestinians–however–the Zionist administration–violating this right and ignoring all international norms and UN resolutions–continues its aggressive policy by forcing out the people of Palestine from its territories and occupying new areas."

The embassy also says that if Israel "has been avoiding to sign the international document of the commission on the ban and non-proliferation of chemical weapons and weapons of mass destruction," Iran "has constantly declared its readiness to cooperate with relevant organizations–whereas the International Atomic Energy Agency said that the construction of atomic stations in Iran is conducted for exclusively industrial and not military purposes."
