75th Anniversary of Russian Border Detachment Marked

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)– The 75th anniversary of the Armavir-based Russian border detachment was marked on Wednesday. On behalf of the government and prime minister–chief of government staff Edward Tadevossian handed souvenirs to border guards. The ceremony was attended by chief of the department for foreign relations Vasily Kazarian–chief of the department of administrative bodies Simon Alanakian–chief of the Armavir regional government Albert Heroyan–commander of the Russian border troops–General Potekhin–chairman of the Marshal Baghramian Fund–retired general Karapetian and commander of the Armenian border troops Levon Stepanian.

At the memorial–wreaths were laid to soldiers who died during World War II and those who died on duty while defending the border.

After the ceremony–government and military officials laid wreaths in memory of the heroes who fought at Sardarabad in 1918 and paid tribute to those who perished during the Karabakh struggle for liberation.
