21 New Members Join ARF Ranks

On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Armenian Republic–21 new members joined the ran’s of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation during an oath ceremony Saturday–presided over by veteran ARF member Haigaz Terterian.

The new members joined the large and growing ARF family and through their oath pledged their willingness and dedication toward the realization of the Armenian Cause and promised to become active pursuers of the aspirations of the Armenian people.

In his remarks–Terterian welcomed the new members to the ran’s and stated that "you have–by your free will–joined the ran’s of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation. And by putting forth all your abilities–and if need be your life–you have pledged to commit yourself to the ARF and the pursuit of its political and national ideals."

Terterian told the new members that they were joining at a crucial time in world history–commenting that they were the last crop of ARF members in the Western US to join before the close of the century. He added that the new members should be mindful of the challenges the new century will bring to Armenia’s and humankind.

Terterian cited Nigol Aghpalian’s "Who is an ARF Member," a volume which meticulously describes the traits and characteristics of an ARF member and the challenges facing that individual in his active pursuit of the Armenian Cause.

Urging the new members to read this volume–Terterian also emphasized the importance of each member’s individually and the critical role individual initiatives play in the party.

The ARF Western Region Central Committee chairman Hovig Saliba also welcomed the new members to the ran’s and stated that their membership in the party has come at a juncture where Armenia’s were preparing to elect a new National Assembly–and following years of persecution in Armenia–the ARF was actively participating in the election process.

Saliba added that a wide arena of opportunity existed to work–and expressed confidence that each new member would enrich the party ran’s through their personal input–contribution and initiative.

He added that the new members’ choice to joing the ARF ran’s was welcomed.

An independence day celebration gathering was held the same evening at the "Avedissian" hall of Ferrahian Armenian school.

The festivities were organized by the San Fernando Valley ARF "Rosdom" gomideh and attracted more than 800 community members in attendance. Hovig Krikorian–Ronios and Karnig Sarkissian provided the entertainment for the evening.
