New Karabakh Prime Minister Appointed

YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–President of the Nagorno Karabakh Republic Arkady Ghoukassian signed a decree Wednesday appointing Anushavan Danielian Prime Minister of Karabakh. The same day the president introduced the newly appointed prime minister to the cabinet members.

President Ghoukassian reported that Danielian had for a long time worked in Crimea as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee for State and Legal Issues of the Crimean Parliament and later held the post of the vice-speaker of the Crimean Parliament. The president also pointed out that Danielian organized the first official Karabakh delegation visit to the Republic of Crimea–which was in fact the first official international contact of Karabakh. The president stressed that Danielian was active in rendering assistance to Karabakh during the armed conflict by organizing humanitarian aid to the country.

Noting his long-standing friendship with Danielian–President Ghoukassian described him as a kind and sympathetic person–but at the same time firm in taking and defending his decisions. The president expressed confidence that the appointment of Danielian as Karabakh prime minister will be well taken in Armenia and the Diaspora where he is well-known and respected.

The newly appointed prime minister stated that he will do everything in his power to realize what’s expected of him–using all his potential and knowledge for the welfare of the people.
