YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Newly-appointed Karabakh Prime Minister Anushavan Danielian and Karabakh Prosecutor General Mavrik Ghoukassian held a meeting Friday–to discuss measures being taken by relevant government bodies to maintain order and rule of law in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Prosecutor General told the new Prime Minister about the situation in his sphere. The Prime Minister–on his part–stressed the importance of establishing and observing law and order in the republic. He emphasized that investigations into all cases must be conducted impartially and those responsible must be punished in all strictness.
Also on Friday–Karabakh President Arkady Ghoukassian signed decrees appointing Artur Aghabekian as Karabakh Interior Minister and relieving Robert Shaferian of the same post.
The president also met with officers of the Interior Ministry to introduce their new chief. Stressing the need for building a law-abiding state and establishing law and order in the country–the president referred to the role and significance of law-enforcement agencies and departmen’s in this regard.
The president thanked Shaferian for his good work and assured him that his dismissal was by no means conditioned by his professional functions. He hoped that Shaferian will continue to work in the system.
Also attending the meeting was Prime Minister Danielian.
Ghoukassian also relieved Minister of Education Hamlet Asrian and appointed Artsakh State University professor Hamlet Grigorian instead.
Ghoukassian also appointed Foreign Minister Naira Melkoumian–Minister of Finance Spartak Tevosyan–Minister of Defense David Ohanian and Chief of Staff Souren Grigorian.
Economic Reforms Minister Vahram Baghdasarian was relieved of his post Thursday. Benjamin Babayan was appointed in his place. Armen Sarkssian was appointed Minister of Culture–Youth Affairs and Sports.
