YEREVAN (Noyan Tapan)–Armenian Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanian received Wednesday an Austrian delegation led by Vice-Prime Minister–Foreign Minister Wolfgang Schuessel.
Oskanian hailed Austria’s willingness to get more actively involved in OSCE processes–especially given the fact that Austria will chair OSCE on January 1–2000. At the request of the Austrian foreign minister–Oskanian presented the current state of Karabakh peace talks–the parties’ attitudes toward the most recent proposals of the Minsk Group’s cochairmen and discussions held to break the deadlock in the negotiating process.
The meeting also discussed possible cooperation of the South Caucasus nations with the European Union in the light of the recently signed Partnership and Cooperation Agreemen’s between the EU and the three South Caucasus Republics. The sides also discussed prospects for developing Armenian-Austrian economic ties.
